Applications for Environmental Authorisations / Norms and Standards Registration will be submitted to the competent authority for the proposed Bakleiplaas Battery Energy Storage System and Associated Grid Connection Infrastructure on the Remaining extent of the farm 277, near Vredendal in the Western Cape Province.
It is the intention of the proponent, to develop a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a footprint of up to 12ha and a Electrical Grid Connection to connect the BESS to the existing Juno Substation on the abovementioned Property. Associated infrastructure includes access road, laydown area, operational buildings and security infrastructure.
